Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
Keep your mouth free of perversity;
keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze directly before you.
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
and be steadfast in all your ways.
Do not turn to the right or the left;
keep your foot from evil. (Proverbs 4:23-27)
Pastor Dave of Pivot Ministries encouraged us from the Proverb above to guard our hearts by
1. watching what we watch;
2. watching what we say;
3. pondering our steps (watching where we go) and
4. staying focused!
Whether in a relationship, or in our purpose in life, these things apply to help us love from a pure heart, and not be led astray.
Lord, help us to guard our heart by obeying the wisdom you've left us. Help us to guard our eye gates, guard our mouths, think about where we put your vessel and keeping our eyes focused on you and the purpose you've given us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Special thanks to Pastor Dave from Pivot Ministries for sharing the Proverb and the above precepts through the lens of his own experience.
