The book Crazy Love, written by Francis Chan, in 2008, that calls those of us who call ourselves Christians to examine our view of God. He beings by helping the reader appreciate the awesomeness of universe. And if that, he argues, is the creator who we worship: the consummate artist, who is also merciful to the person who feels most insignificant, and who loves us like His own child; then our response must be one of crazy love.
He ends with stories of people who put any charity that I have attempted to shame. He gives the example a man who was delivered from addiction and living on the streets. Instead of using his money to rent an apartment or buy a house, he uses almost his ENTIRE check to buy food for homeless and share his testimony and the gospel and lives in his car. Chan does not argue that we should all do the same, but consider our dedication to God and the temperature of our faith. If the aforementioned man is on fire, then where are we?
Lord, help us to have a crazy love for you, and those around us. Amen.
