Jesus is the King of the Kingdom

While we may be pink spoons, God is the owner and operator of the Baskin Robbins corporation (see previous post). Jesus is the owner in disguise, wearing a janitor's uniform come to pay for everyone's ice cream and offer free ice cream for life....And still, He is more than that. He is the fulfillment of the prophecy from Isaiah 61:1-2:

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn..."

He confirms that it is He who is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Isaiah 61 in Luke 4:1. Throughout His ministry He proclaimed, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Matthew 4:17)". It was at hand, because He had come to bring it.

Although at the apex of royalty, Jesus thought it not robbery to leave His heavenly throne, humble himself and come to earth in service to redeem the broken, and poor on earth. Help us to follow your example, oh King Jesus. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Amen.
