Kingdom Calling

I have the pleasure of reading "Kingdom Calling" by Amy L. Sherman. In it, she describes her work in helping churches become better at serving their communities. She spends most of the introduction, however concentrating on the importance of individual's lives as giving the world an introduction to Jesus' heavenly Kingdom.

To illustrate the importance of individual believer's lives to the introduction, she quotes Rev. Jeff White from Harlem New Song Church, and describes disciples as the tiny pink taste-test spoons from Baskin-Robbins. Like those little spoons, we must offer a foretaste of what is to come. We must offer a foretaste of the kingdom to our neighbors near and far.

May we, as Dr. Sherman charges us, be pink spoons that show others the kingdom in our churches, in our communities, in our vocation--- in our lives. Amen.
